About the Nrf52832 devboard PCB

Nrf52832 devboard is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by brrastak, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 33 × 53.3 mm, with 28 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the NRF52832-QFAA, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 4 resistors, 3 connectors, 3 inductors, 2 ICs and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

The TI antenna SWRA117D is used (AN 043).

USB connector and voltage regulator circuitry are optional and only provide power.

It turns out that using P10 as an LED pin is not the best idea, as it is one of the NFC pins. To use it as a GPIO, you first need to disable the NFC pin protection. Using Rust and the nRF52832 PAC, this is done with the following code (the dedicated NVRAM register value should be set once and the new configuration is taken into account after MCU reset):

Nrf52832 devboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nrf52832 devboard use?

The Nrf52832 devboard is built around the NRF52832-QFAA, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Nrf52832 devboard PCB?

The Nrf52832 devboard measures 33 × 53.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nrf52832 devboard?

28 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nrf52832 devboard design files?

From the brrastak/nrf52832_devboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nrf52832 devboard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which brrastak chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Nrf52832 devboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
