About the Gelatino board

Gelatino board is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by bru4bas, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 69 × 53.8 mm, with 69 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMega328, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the iCE40LP384, AT25xxx, CH340G, AMS1117-5.0 and RT9013-33. By type, the board carries 24 resistors, 9 capacitors, 7 ICs, 5 connectors, 5 diodes and 2 transistors.

Arduino with iCE40 FPGA

This project is meant to be a low-cost FPGA development board, targeting education (Verilog and FPGA) and hobbist users and employing exclusively open-source software and hardware.

It is based on the iCE40LP384 FPGA from Lattice Semiconductor, embedded together with a ATMega328 Arduino-like hardware. Both MCU and FPGA can work together in the Arduino compatible board, and shall be programmed using the traditional Arduino IDE, with extensions. FPGA programming is carried out by the ATMega MCU itself, with an extension of the Arduino standard bootloader -- transfering data to the Flash serial…

Gelatino board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Gelatino board use?

The Gelatino board is built around the ATMega328, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Gelatino board?

The Gelatino board measures 69 × 53.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Gelatino board?

69 components, from 30 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Gelatino board design files?

From the bru4bas/gelatino-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Gelatino board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which bru4bas chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Gelatino board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
