About the Ledmat8x16controller PCB
Ledmat8x16controller is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by burbschat, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 64 × 32 mm, with 15 components from 9 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 5 connectors, 5 jumpers, 3 resistors, 1 module and 1 switch.
It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

A second test now using the controller and row connect boards for a double row display. Again, the colors look much better in person than on this picture. This can now display much larger frames as well as animations (cycling through a given number of frames in a buffer on the pico). For faster data transfer a serial interface over USB is used (previously UART through the debug probe was used, which is much slower). A debug probe is still attached for, well, debugging. But the device now can be used without it.

Ledmat8x16controller: common questions
What microcontroller does the Ledmat8x16controller use?
The Ledmat8x16controller is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the Ledmat8x16controller PCB?
The Ledmat8x16controller measures 64 × 32 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Ledmat8x16controller?
15 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Ledmat8x16controller design files?
From the burbschat/ledmat8x16 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Ledmat8x16controller design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which burbschat chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Ledmat8x16controller without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
