About the Bike rear light PCB

Bike rear light is an open source Microchip SAM PCB design by c4deszes, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 65.8 × 21.8 mm, with 84 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATSAMD21E18A-A, from the Microchip SAM family. Other key parts include the MCP2021A-330E/SN, TLD2331-3EP, TLD2132-1EP and BMA456. By type, the board carries 36 resistors, 22 capacitors, 15 diodes, 6 ICs, 4 transistors and 1 inductor.

Bike rear light: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bike rear light use?

The Bike rear light is built around the ATSAMD21E18A-A, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the Bike rear light PCB?

The Bike rear light measures 65.8 × 21.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bike rear light?

84 components, from 25 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bike rear light design files?

From the c4deszes/bike-rear-light repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bike rear light design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Bike rear light without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
