About the OTTO-main PCB

OTTO-main is an open source STM32 PCB design by cester-ino, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 239 × 80 mm, with 100 components from 27 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F103CBTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the 74HC125, AMS1117-3.3, ILI9341 and MCP602. By type, the board carries 30 diodes, 26 switches, 19 resistors, 14 capacitors, 5 ICs and 4 connectors.

It belongs with the audio and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

A modular hardware for the OTTO synthesizer

- 50 key button matrix - 4 clickable color coded encoders - 1W Audio amplifier for the internal speaker - Battery management and charging circuit for the lipo/li-ion batteries and a led battery meter - Gpio breakout to allow to position the Raspberry rotated 90 degrees to access the USB ports and to easely use both the LCD screen and the audio card.

OTTO-main: common questions

What microcontroller does the OTTO-main use?

The OTTO-main is built around the STM32F103CBTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the OTTO-main PCB?

The OTTO-main measures 239 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the OTTO-main?

100 components, from 27 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the OTTO-main design files?

From the cester-ino/OTTO-project repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the OTTO-main design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which cester-ino chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the OTTO-main without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
