About the Chapp pad PCB

Chapp pad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by CHAPARII, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 95.8 × 85.5 mm, with 26 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 12 switches, 12 diodes, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

This hackpad have 11keys and 1 rotary encoder, I've used XIAO RP2040 microcontroller in this and a 0.9'' OLED Display. I've done the BOM and made it from one supplier "Amazon" to make clean or else it could become messy. I've some keys in my home as well (1-2 keys) which I'll use

This hackpad have 11keys and 1 rotary encoder, I've used XIAO RP2040 microcontroller in this and a 0.9'' OLED Display. I've done the BOM and made it from one supplier "Amazon" to make clean or else it could become messy. I've some keys in my home as well (1-2 keys) which I'll use in if it's needed. :b For the CAD I made it in two parts "top" and "bottom". I also thought to make a top plate but that would look over artificial and I wanted my Hackpad to look like "YES!! This is coustom hackpad, which I made by myself". I'll order the PCB in red or blue color because will match with my setup…

Chapp pad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Chapp pad use?

The Chapp pad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Chapp pad PCB?

The Chapp pad measures 95.8 × 85.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Chapp pad?

26 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Chapp pad design files?

From the CHAPARII/chapp-pad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Chapp pad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with CHAPARII. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Chapp pad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
