About the ZeroPad-Macropad PCB
ZeroPad-Macropad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ChladpavPy, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 58.2 × 66.1 mm, with 16 components from 6 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 6 switches, 5 resistors, 3 diodes, 1 IC and 1 connector.
It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.
From the project
ZeroPad-Macropad
The pathfinder project is great hardware introduction project, but I wanted to do bit more, that I would use daily - specifically for quick shortcuts as a keyboard to my computer.
I designed a custom PCB in KiCad featuring a 2x3 matrix with 6 mechanical Cherry MX switches, and I also added a 4-pin header for a 0.91 I2C OLED display. The display is intended to show the currently active macro profile (such as gaming Mode or work Mode). The board layout was carefully optimized for standard 1U keycap spacing to avoid keycaps collisions.

ZeroPad-Macropad: common questions
What microcontroller does the ZeroPad-Macropad use?
The ZeroPad-Macropad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the ZeroPad-Macropad PCB?
The ZeroPad-Macropad measures 58.2 × 66.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the ZeroPad-Macropad?
16 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the ZeroPad-Macropad design files?
From the ChladpavPy/ZeroPad-Macropad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the ZeroPad-Macropad design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ChladpavPy. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the ZeroPad-Macropad without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
