About the Mcu breakout

Mcu breakout is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by chof747, published on GitHub under the CC0-1.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 47 × 59.5 mm, with 13 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040-ZERO, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 5 connectors, 3 capacitors, 2 resistors, 1 IC, 1 switch and 1 LED.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and sensors designs in this gallery.

A small board for my samla-filament-scale-box

This is the electronics part of the filamentalist samla box which consists of:

- A header to read from a load cell - An HX711 ADC controller and circutry to read the load cell - A peripheral connector to connect to the led and the button on the outside of the box of the filamentalist station - An IDC header to connect to the central mcu unit

A board that bears the MCU and brain of the Filamentalist Box it has

Mcu breakout: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mcu breakout use?

The Mcu breakout is built around the RP2040-ZERO, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Mcu breakout?

The Mcu breakout measures 47 × 59.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mcu breakout?

13 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mcu breakout design files?

From the chof747/filament-scale-pcb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mcu breakout design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC0-1.0 license, which chof747 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Mcu breakout without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
