About the 3DPCB PCB

3DPCB is an open source NXP PCB design by ChristianLerche, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 60 mm, with 198 components from 59 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the LPC1768_TQFP100, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the DRV8825, SPST_MOMENTARY, BSS84, MOS_NFET and CRYSTAL_SMALL. By type, the board carries 65 capacitors, 50 resistors, 29 connectors, 27 ICs, 10 diodes and 7 relays.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

3DPCB DRV8825 files - KiCAD

This git contains the files necessary to make 3DPCB.

It's designed in KiCAD mostly using library I created.

I had an early version, which couldn't run the motors, as the DRV8825 was not receiving 3.3V. It has been fixed in the PCB, but it hasn't been tested through production.

The board is 2 layer, so cheap prototype PCB service sites can produce them. Size is 100x60mm, so around $20 for 10 pcs is possible.

3DPCB: common questions

What microcontroller does the 3DPCB use?

The 3DPCB is built around the LPC1768_TQFP100, from the NXP family.

How big is the 3DPCB PCB?

The 3DPCB measures 100 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 3DPCB?

198 components, from 59 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 3DPCB design files?

From the ChristianLerche/3DPCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 3DPCB design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ChristianLerche. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the 3DPCB without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
