About the Chimborazo Stratos-1 PCB
Chimborazo Stratos-1 is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Cocotrilito, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 45 × 43.8 mm, with 21 components from 15 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-C6-SMD, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 3 capacitors, 2 diodes, 1 IC, 1 transistor and 1 fuse.
It belongs with the sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.
From the project
"Designed at the world's closest point to the stars." - me =p A custom Model Rocket Flight Computer (CFC) designed for high-altitude stabilization and recovery. It features an IMU for orientation tracking and a barometer for apogee detection. The goal is to create a reliable, low-cost brain for amateur rocketry in Ecuador.
First bring-up worked. The IMU and the barometer both came up on I2C at 0x68 and 0x77, and the board is now streaming live telemetry over serial at 115200 baud.
Ground pressure read 75207 Pa. Sea level is 101325 Pa, so the board is literally measuring the real atmosphere of Quito at ~2800m. Altitude noise is around ±0.1m, which is good enough for apogee detection.

Chimborazo Stratos-1: common questions
What microcontroller does the Chimborazo Stratos-1 use?
The Chimborazo Stratos-1 is built around the XIAO-ESP32-C6-SMD, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Chimborazo Stratos-1 PCB?
The Chimborazo Stratos-1 measures 45 × 43.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Chimborazo Stratos-1?
21 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Chimborazo Stratos-1 design files?
From the Cocotrilito/Chimborazo-Stratos-1 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Chimborazo Stratos-1 design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Cocotrilito chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Chimborazo Stratos-1 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
