About the Toadstool-Mega328 PCB

Toadstool-Mega328 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by CrashBangProto, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 49.5 × 81.2 mm, with 26 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the LD1117. By type, the board carries 9 relays, 5 capacitors, 5 resistors, 2 ICs, 2 diodes and 1 connector.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

Toadstool Development Board - ATmega328P

The Toadstool family is made up of breadboard-friendly prototyping boards that house a microcontroller, and modules called Caps that connect using a standard header. The prototyping board is analagous to an Arduino/Launchpad and the Cap analagous to a shield/boosterpack.

This repository contains the schematics for the Toadstool-Mega328 prototyping board, a breadboard-friendly PCB that houses the ATmega328P microcontroller (or other Atmel pin-compatible variants such as the ATmega8/48/88/168/328).

Toadstool-Mega328: common questions

What microcontroller does the Toadstool-Mega328 use?

The Toadstool-Mega328 is built around the ATMEGA328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Toadstool-Mega328 PCB?

The Toadstool-Mega328 measures 49.5 × 81.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Toadstool-Mega328?

26 components, from 24 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Toadstool-Mega328 design files?

From the CrashBangProto/Toadstool-Mega328 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Toadstool-Mega328 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which CrashBangProto chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Toadstool-Mega328 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
