About the Rookie-V1- PCB

Rookie-V1- is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Creepy-yoke, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 363.7 × 168.8 mm, with 218 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 132 diodes, 72 switches, 10 capacitors, 1 module and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Hi, I am making a cool keyboard from scratch

THIS IS @MD # Rookie-V1 Hi, I am making a cool Custom Keyboard from scratch, by myself

This is my custom 65% Alice layout keyboard that I’m designing from scratch. I started with watching some YOUTUBE videos and also took some help of AI for boosting up my Knowledge. then I worked on schematic of the keyboard matrix, diodes, switches, OLED display, Joystick, and the other components. After finishing the schematic, I moved on to designing the PCB. I arranged the components, worked on the routing, and checked the connections and DRC errors to make sure everything was correct. Rookie-V1-: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rookie-V1- use?

The Rookie-V1- is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Rookie-V1- PCB?

The Rookie-V1- measures 363.7 × 168.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rookie-V1-?

218 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rookie-V1- design files?

From the Creepy-yoke/Rookie-V1- repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rookie-V1- design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Creepy-yoke chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Rookie-V1- without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
