About the DCC Decoder Turnout PCB

DCC Decoder Turnout is an open source STM32 PCB design by danielvilas, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 95 × 30 mm, with 62 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F030K6Tx, from the STM32 family. By type, the board carries 18 resistors, 16 connectors, 9 capacitors, 6 transistors, 5 jumpers and 4 diodes.

In the reality, the max compsution of the servo (Stall) may only occurr when the user is setting up the device. So with this information we can design our power stage, from VDrive to 5V using "WEBENCH Power Designer" indicating we want 1 AMP output wiht nominal output of 500mA

DCC Decoder Turnout: common questions

What microcontroller does the DCC Decoder Turnout use?

The DCC Decoder Turnout is built around the STM32F030K6Tx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the DCC Decoder Turnout PCB?

The DCC Decoder Turnout measures 95 × 30 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DCC Decoder Turnout?

62 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DCC Decoder Turnout design files?

From the danielvilas/DigitalTrains repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DCC Decoder Turnout design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which danielvilas chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the DCC Decoder Turnout without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
