About the Lotuspad PCB

Lotuspad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by danielyx-z, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 62 × 88 mm, with 20 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 9 switches, 9 diodes, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

The inspiration for creating this macropad came from my love for coding and the need for efficient shortcuts while programming. It is designed to enhance productivity by providing quick access to frequently used commands and macros. The process of designing this project taught me a lot about using new tools like Fusion 360 and KiCad. It was also the most difficult part in the process. I think Fusion360 has a very steep learning curve.

Lotuspad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Lotuspad use?

The Lotuspad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Lotuspad PCB?

The Lotuspad measures 62 × 88 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Lotuspad?

20 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Lotuspad design files?

From the danielyx-z/lotuspad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Lotuspad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with danielyx-z. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Lotuspad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
