About the HRCTracker PCB

HRCTracker is an open source ESP32 PCB design by darianleo30, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 65 × 83.5 mm, with 6 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C5-DevKitC-1, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 4 ICs, 1 switch and 1 diode.

It belongs with the displays & leds, sensors and wearables designs in this gallery.

From the project

Fitness Tracker Used in my nonprofit running camp. KiCad Schematics and Code included.

A responsive handheld walking and running cadence tracker built with an ESP32-C5, an MPU9250-series inertial sensor, and a 128×64 SSD1306 OLED.

The tracker measures rhythmic handheld motion, filters out gravity and orientation changes, validates step timing, and displays both the current and average cadence in steps per minute (SPM). An LED provides immediate feedback whenever a step is detected.

HRCTracker: common questions

What microcontroller does the HRCTracker use?

The HRCTracker is built around the ESP32-C5-DevKitC-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the HRCTracker PCB?

The HRCTracker measures 65 × 83.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.600198 mm thick.

How many components are on the HRCTracker?

6 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HRCTracker design files?

From the darianleo30/HRCTracker repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HRCTracker design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with darianleo30. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the HRCTracker without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
