About the Selector8x16 PCB

Selector8x16 is an open source PIC PCB design by DavidMFlynn, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 165.1 × 66 mm, with 111 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the PIC16F1847-I/SO, from the PIC family. Other key parts include the SN75189, 74HC244, 74LS138, LM7805 and MAX202. By type, the board carries 66 resistors, 16 ICs, 16 capacitors, 11 connectors and 2 diodes.

From the project

Sets camera to monitor connections, RS-232, Extron Electronics MAV 88, PIC16F1847.

The PCBs are made with kicad. Two of the wires on port 2 are swapped, fixed in software. I know its unlikely anyone will want one, but it makes a good example project.

Selector8x16: common questions

What microcontroller does the Selector8x16 use?

The Selector8x16 is built around the PIC16F1847-I/SO, from the PIC family.

How big is the Selector8x16 PCB?

The Selector8x16 measures 165.1 × 66 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Selector8x16?

111 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Selector8x16 design files?

From the DavidMFlynn/VideoSelector repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Selector8x16 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which DavidMFlynn chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Selector8x16 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
