About the Runner s-GPS PCB

Runner s-GPS is an open source NXP PCB design by dbtayl, published on GitHub under the BSD-3-Clause license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 79.9 × 50.8 mm, with 38 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the LPC1788FBD144, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the TSC2046, MICRO_SD_SOCKET, 40-PIN-LCD, MCP73831 and LM3671. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 10 ICs, 9 resistors, 1 connector, 1 switch and 1 diode.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

-Maps tiles can either be downloaded from the OSM project, or created yourself (eg, via TileMill). Either way, they'll have to not only be converted into bitmaps (RGB565), but they'll ALSO have to be flipped vertically. Bitmaps are weird and store the last row first, and this code reads the images as you would read a book. The code could probably be changed, but if you're flipping images already, why?

Runner s-GPS: common questions

What microcontroller does the Runner s-GPS use?

The Runner s-GPS is built around the LPC1788FBD144, from the NXP family.

How big is the Runner s-GPS PCB?

The Runner s-GPS measures 79.9 × 50.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Runner s-GPS?

38 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Runner s-GPS design files?

From the dbtayl/Runner-s-GPS repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Runner s-GPS design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-3-Clause license, which dbtayl chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Runner s-GPS without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
