About the Protection PCB

Protection is an open source PCB design by ddowling, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 109 × 31 mm, with 9 components from 6 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the RL1210A390K. By type, the board carries 5 capacitors, 2 connectors, 1 IC and 1 inductor.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Hardware and firmware for a bidirectional DC-DC convertor

This is a design for a Bidirectional Buck-Boost DC-DC converter based on the Texas Instruments BQ25758 integrated circuit. The BQ25758 has a wide supply range from 4.2V to 60V and the external MOSFETs and Inductor should support currents up to 10A. This design is closely based on the BQ25758 Evaluation Module. I decided to spin my own board as I wanted to add a microcontroller and four Ideal Diodes with load switches to make a completely standalone board.

Protection: common questions

How big is the Protection PCB?

The Protection measures 109 × 31 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Protection?

9 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Protection design files?

From the ddowling/BidirectionalSupply repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Protection design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ddowling. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
