About the BidirectionalSupply PCB

BidirectionalSupply is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ddowling, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 132 × 107 mm, with 186 components from 50 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2350_60QFN, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q128JVS, LM74810QDRRRQ1, BQ25758 and MAX17502EATB+T. By type, the board carries 73 capacitors, 62 resistors, 14 diodes, 12 transistors, 11 connectors and 8 ICs.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Hardware and firmware for a bidirectional DC-DC convertor

This is a design for a Bidirectional Buck-Boost DC-DC converter based on the Texas Instruments BQ25758 integrated circuit. The BQ25758 has a wide supply range from 4.2V to 60V and the external MOSFETs and Inductor should support currents up to 10A. This design is closely based on the BQ25758 Evaluation Module. I decided to spin my own board as I wanted to add a microcontroller and four Ideal Diodes with load switches to make a completely standalone board.

BidirectionalSupply: common questions

What microcontroller does the BidirectionalSupply use?

The BidirectionalSupply is built around the RP2350_60QFN, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the BidirectionalSupply PCB?

The BidirectionalSupply measures 132 × 107 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the BidirectionalSupply?

186 components, from 50 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the BidirectionalSupply design files?

From the ddowling/BidirectionalSupply repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the BidirectionalSupply design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ddowling. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the BidirectionalSupply without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
