About the SmartCubePanel PCB

SmartCubePanel is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Dennis960, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 137.5 × 132 mm, with 181 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C6-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 20 LEDs and 2 switches.

From the project

SmartCube is a smart cube that can magnetically connect to other cubes in four directions

This folder contains the KiCad projects for the SmartCube LED module, power supply module, and pogo pin connectors. It also includes helper scripts for panelization of the PCBs for manufacturing.

The KiCad projects all use the same shared library located in the libs folder.

If having problems loading footprints or 3d models, make sure to add the symbol and CustomFootprints libraries in KiCad.

SmartCubePanel: common questions

What microcontroller does the SmartCubePanel use?

The SmartCubePanel is built around the ESP32-C6-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the SmartCubePanel PCB?

The SmartCubePanel measures 137.5 × 132 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SmartCubePanel?

181 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SmartCubePanel design files?

From the Dennis960/SmartCube repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SmartCubePanel design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Dennis960. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the SmartCubePanel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
