About the Wi se rewirable PCB

Wi se rewirable is an open source ESP32 PCB design by depau, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 25.6 × 22.4 mm, with 33 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 14 resistors, 7 capacitors, 4 diodes, 2 ICs, 2 transistors and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Cheap and tiny ESP8266 boards for Wi-Se to access your SBC or router serial port remotely

Wi-Se is a set of ESP8266-based boards intended to be used with Wi-Se (firmware).

They are intended to be always connected to a device's UART header in order to troubleshoot boot issues or crashes without having to take the board out of the case.

Provides solder jumpers to configure the header output. It can be powered from 5V or 3.3V.

Compatible with Raspberry Pi and all boards with a compatible pinout. Runs on 5V.

Wi se rewirable: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wi se rewirable use?

The Wi se rewirable is built around the ESP-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Wi se rewirable PCB?

The Wi se rewirable measures 25.6 × 22.4 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wi se rewirable?

33 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wi se rewirable design files?

From the depau/wi-se-hw repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wi se rewirable design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which depau chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Wi se rewirable without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
