About the Buffered-Mult PCB

Buffered-Mult is an open source PCB design by domesticmouse, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 30 × 110 mm, with 53 components from 21 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the TL074. By type, the board carries 18 resistors, 13 connectors, 11 capacitors, 8 diodes and 3 ICs.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

A buffered mult circuit

A 3-channel active buffered mult (multiple) circuit designed for Eurorack modular synthesizers. View this in KiCanvas.

In modular synthesis, a multiple is used to split a single signal (such as control voltage, gates/triggers, or audio) and route it to multiple destinations simultaneously.

While passive multiples simply wire jacks together in parallel, they cause voltage droop when splitting precise voltages like 1V/Octave pitch CV across multiple inputs due to impedance loading. This results in out-of-tune oscillators and pitch tracking errors.

Buffered-Mult: common questions

How big is the Buffered-Mult PCB?

The Buffered-Mult measures 30 × 110 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Buffered-Mult?

53 components, from 21 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Buffered-Mult design files?

From the domesticmouse/Buffered-Mult repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Buffered-Mult design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which domesticmouse chose for the repository.
