About the PWR BRD by drharvey PCB

PWR BRD by drharvey is an open source ESP32 PCB design by dr-harvey, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 59.8 × 20 mm, with 22 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MFRC522. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 6 capacitors, 3 connectors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 1 switch.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, audio and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

BailaBox - RFID enabled, ESP32-based music toy for kids that works with Home Assistant and network speakers.

BailaBox is an open-source, token-controlled music player interface built around an ESP32-S3, ESPHome and Home Assistant. Place a printed RFID token on the reader to start its assigned song or playlist, remove it to pause, and use the physical buttons and rotary encoder for playback and volume control.

This is a personal hobby project shared for other makers to study, modify and build. It is not a finished commercial product or a certified children's toy.

PWR BRD by drharvey: common questions

What microcontroller does the PWR BRD by drharvey use?

The PWR BRD by drharvey is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PWR BRD by drharvey PCB?

The PWR BRD by drharvey measures 59.8 × 20 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PWR BRD by drharvey?

22 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PWR BRD by drharvey design files?

From the dr-harvey/BailaBox repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PWR BRD by drharvey design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which dr-harvey chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PWR BRD by drharvey without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
