A Variable Frequency Drive, designed and built for Projekt Mechatronik in SoSe26

An open-hardware variable frequency drive (VFD) for three-phase induction motors, developed for the course Projekt Mechatronik at Munich University of Applied Sciences (HM).

DriveLink rectifies single-phase 230 V AC mains into a ≈325 V DC link and drives the motor through an Infineon IM06B50GC1 CIPOS Mini intelligent power module (600 V / 50 A). The power stage is controlled by an STM32G474 whose firmware is generated from a PLECS model, while a detachable ESP32-S3 HMI provides an OLED display, rotary-encoder control, and a WiFi web dashboard. Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC: common questions

What microcontroller does the Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC use?

The Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC is built around the STM32G474RETx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC PCB?

The Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC measures 200 × 100 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC?

177 components, from 64 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC design files?

From the DriveLink-HM/DriveLink repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which DriveLink-HM chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Projekt Mechatronik DC-AC without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
