About the Le oeuf v2 PCB

Le oeuf v2 is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by eggsworks, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 215.1 × 85 mm, with 65 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the C356849, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the TPUSBLC6-2SC6 and TP4054. By type, the board carries 40 diodes, 7 resistors, 5 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 inductors and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the keyboards and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

L'oeuf is a semi-integrated PCB using an E73 BLE module. It is intended to be fully SMT assembled.

A mid-mount USB-C port and JST ACH battery connector keep the board as thin as possible.

ZMK firmware available from eggsworks/zmk-config

This design is available under the terms of the CERN-OHL-S.

Le oeuf v2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Le oeuf v2 use?

The Le oeuf v2 is built around the C356849, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Le oeuf v2 PCB?

The Le oeuf v2 measures 215.1 × 85 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Le oeuf v2?

65 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Le oeuf v2 design files?

From the eggsworks/le-oeuf-v2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Le oeuf v2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which eggsworks chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Le oeuf v2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
