About the Genli PCB

Genli is an open source ESP32 PCB design by eli-lame, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 125 × 90 mm, with 16 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32_30pin, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the ICM-20948 and VL53L0X. By type, the board carries 15 ICs and 1 connector.

From the project

PDB/PCB repository for custom hopcopter build *named Genli :)*

KiCad projects for the Revali hopcopter: a quadrotor with a passive spring-loaded telescopic leg that hops along the ground instead of hovering.

Firmware, and all design documentation, live in the companion repository eli-lame/Revali. This repository is boards only.

One KiCad project per board, side by side. A new board is a new project, not a copy of the previous one: copying inherits the previous netlist, and v1's contains a reversed ESC1–ESC4 mapping and a power section built around a part no longer used. Footprints are worth reusing; net topology is not.

Genli: common questions

What microcontroller does the Genli use?

The Genli is built around the ESP32_30pin, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Genli PCB?

The Genli measures 125 × 90 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Genli?

16 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Genli design files?

From the eli-lame/Genli repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Genli design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with eli-lame. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Genli without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
