About the Nano28C64 PCB

Nano28C64 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by elixpo, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 12 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino Nano v3, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74HC595 (A0-A7), 74HC595 (A8-A12) and AT28C64B-15PC. By type, the board carries 4 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 capacitors, 1 module and 1 diode.

It belongs with the displays & leds, retro computing and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Arduino Nano programmer for 5 V AT28C64B EEPROMs, with Intel HEX/BIN support, protected writes, progress display, full read-back verification, CRC-16, and a KiCad schematic.

This circuit is specifically for a 5 V 28C64 EEPROM and was verified with an AT28C64B-15PC. It is not a universal EEPROM socket; chips with different capacities, pinouts, voltages, or programming algorithms must not be inserted.

All devices use the same regulated +5 V and ground. Place one 100 nF ceramic capacitor directly between VCC and GND at the Nano-side power entry, each 74HC595, and the EEPROM.

Nano28C64: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nano28C64 use?

The Nano28C64 is built around the Arduino Nano v3, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the Nano28C64?

12 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nano28C64 design files?

From the elixpo/Nano28C64 repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nano28C64 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which elixpo chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Nano28C64 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
