About the Acw02 zb PCB

Acw02 zb is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Fabiancrg, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 53.5 × 33 mm, with 30 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-S3-SMD, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MP1584EN-LF-Z. By type, the board carries 14 resistors, 6 capacitors, 4 transistors, 2 ICs, 2 connectors and 1 diode.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery, and the repository also holds 1 earlier revision of it.

The device should also be compatible with ZHA (Zigbee Home Automation). Because it uses standard Zigbee 3.0 clusters, core functionality (climate control, switches) works out of the box. A custom ZHA quirk (acw02zb.py`) is provided to handle the non-standard fan mode values and the full 9-endpoint structure.

Acw02 zb: common questions

What microcontroller does the Acw02 zb use?

The Acw02 zb is built around the XIAO-ESP32-S3-SMD, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Acw02 zb PCB?

The Acw02 zb measures 53.5 × 33 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Acw02 zb?

30 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Acw02 zb design files?

From the Fabiancrg/acw02_zb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Acw02 zb design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Acw02 zb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
