About the Homeassistant automaic greenhouse PCB

Homeassistant automaic greenhouse is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by felixwittwer, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 162 × 60 mm, with 20 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP_01, from the ESP8266 family. By type, the board carries 17 connectors and 3 resistors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

A cool Project to make your greenhouse smart. What about automaic irrigation and collecting enviromental data right from your garden.

This folder contains everything regarding the PCB. Furthermore there will be mounting hardware for DIN Rails in the mounting folder.

I recoment only getting the PCB manufactured and then poppulating the board yourself. There are not SMD parts on the PCB so assembly isn't as cheap as you are probably used to. Due to it's non smd nature sodering should be easy and replacing parts (maybe because they corrode in you greenhouse) is very simple and easy to pull of.

Homeassistant automaic greenhouse: common questions

What microcontroller does the Homeassistant automaic greenhouse use?

The Homeassistant automaic greenhouse is built around the ESP_01, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Homeassistant automaic greenhouse PCB?

The Homeassistant automaic greenhouse measures 162 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Homeassistant automaic greenhouse?

20 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Homeassistant automaic greenhouse design files?

From the felixwittwer/homeassistant_automaic_greenhouse repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Homeassistant automaic greenhouse design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Homeassistant automaic greenhouse without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
