About the Simha s-Hackropad PCB

Simha s-Hackropad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by firesareba, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 87.9 × 56.6 mm, with 14 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 6 switches, 6 diodes and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

A simple hackpad from the HackPad community!

This is a custom 2x3 macropad with a rotary encoder and an OLED screen.

I wanted to create a macropad that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. I created a macropad featuring a 2x3 key matrix, a rotary encoder with a push button, and an OLED display, all powered by a Seeed XIAO RP2040.

This was my first time using Fusion 360. It was a really cool experience to learn. A lot of my friends tell me to use Onshape so I might stick with that in the future because Fusion360 was very clunky in my opinion. I was first very intimidated by having to create a entire PCB from scratch but the…

Simha s-Hackropad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Simha s-Hackropad use?

The Simha s-Hackropad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Simha s-Hackropad PCB?

The Simha s-Hackropad measures 87.9 × 56.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Simha s-Hackropad?

14 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Simha s-Hackropad design files?

From the firesareba/Simha-s-Hackropad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Simha s-Hackropad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with firesareba. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Simha s-Hackropad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
