About the Riscv challenge PCB

Riscv challenge is an open source PCB design by FrankBuss, published on GitHub under the BSD-2-Clause license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 25.4 × 25.4 mm, with 10 components from 7 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the H11L1SM. By type, the board carries 4 resistors, 3 connectors, 1 IC, 1 diode and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the audio and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

MIDI synthesizer for the RISC-V Design Challenge

This is the MIDI synthesizer project for the RISC-V Design Challenge. I'm using this board for it.

The board is configured to receive the MIDI data with an opto-isolator with the standard MIDI frequency of 31,250 Hz. The firmware then detects note-on and note-off events and generates a PWM signal with the requested pitch.

Riscv challenge: common questions

How big is the Riscv challenge PCB?

The Riscv challenge measures 25.4 × 25.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Riscv challenge?

10 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Riscv challenge design files?

From the FrankBuss/riscv-challenge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Riscv challenge design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-2-Clause license, which FrankBuss chose for the repository.
