This project was made possible thanks to the support and contributions of a few key individuals. Notable thanks go to: Henry S. Courbis of ReActiveMicro not only was instrumental in the development of the VHDL code but also was the spark that initiated this project. His generous support and deep technical insight made this project possible. Ralle Palaveev is more than a contributor -- he is the co-creator of the 3.3V adapters. His impressive skills made what seemed impossible look easy: fitting everything into a 40-pin DIP-sized PCB.

Apple IIe MMU 3V3: common questions

What microcontroller does the Apple IIe MMU 3V3 use?

The Apple IIe MMU 3V3 is built around the LCMXO2-256HC-4MG132C, from the FPGA family.

How big is the Apple IIe MMU 3V3 PCB?

The Apple IIe MMU 3V3 measures 17.5 × 51.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.604 mm thick.

How many components are on the Apple IIe MMU 3V3?

41 components, from 9 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Apple IIe MMU 3V3 design files?

From the frozen-signal/Apple_IIe_MMU_3V3 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Apple IIe MMU 3V3 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-4.0 license, which frozen-signal chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Apple IIe MMU 3V3 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
