About the Mixxtape PCB
Mixxtape is an open source ESP32 PCB design by funvill, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.5 × 63.5 mm, with 67 components from 16 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the C701341, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the C51928215, C2758105, C6186 and C7484. By type, the board carries 29 diodes, 16 capacitors, 11 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 switches and 2 connectors.
It belongs with the audio and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.
From the project
PCB Mix tape
A 2-layer PCB in the form factor of a compact cassette (99.5 × 63.5 mm) that slides into a real Norelco cassette case. The bare board is the object — no enclosure, no bezel.
An onboard MEMS microphone records three 4-minute tracks. Hold REC to record, release to stop. Pair it to any Bluetooth earbuds or speaker and press PLAY.
Cassette-shaped Bluetooth players exist. Nobody ships a cassette-shaped recorder — and recording is the part that made a mixtape a mixtape.

Mixxtape: common questions
What microcontroller does the Mixxtape use?
The Mixxtape is built around the C701341, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Mixxtape PCB?
The Mixxtape measures 99.5 × 63.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Mixxtape?
67 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Mixxtape design files?
From the funvill/mixxtape repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Mixxtape design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with funvill. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Mixxtape without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
