Simple but Small Frame Grabber

Development BigBoard (Do not use! known errata)

Due to supply issues of the ECP5 in cs285 I developed this PCB to start work on firmware. Despite many errata the board was functional (after mods) and did aid in fw development.

BosonFrameGrabber: common questions

What microcontroller does the BosonFrameGrabber use?

The BosonFrameGrabber is built around the LFE5UM-25F-6MG285C, from the FPGA family.

How big is the BosonFrameGrabber PCB?

The BosonFrameGrabber measures 63 × 63 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.2 mm thick.

How many components are on the BosonFrameGrabber?

64 components, from 33 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the BosonFrameGrabber design files?

From the gregdavill/boson-sd-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the BosonFrameGrabber design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which gregdavill chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the BosonFrameGrabber without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
