About the QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board

QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board is an open source STM32 PCB design by Heckus, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 71.5 × 46 mm, with 40 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F427VIT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the ICM-20608-G, ICM-42688-P, LIS3MDLTR, MS5611-01BA03 and AP7365-33WG-7. By type, the board carries 20 test points, 11 capacitors, 6 ICs, 2 switches and 1 connector.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

The primary objective is to create an alternative to the difficult-to-source off-the-shelf Pixhawk 6. This work builds upon a edited pixracer version produced by KAI (Wesley) in 2022.

The primary objective is to create an alternative to the difficult-to-source off-the-shelf Pixhawk 6. This work builds upon a edited pixracer version produced by KAI (Wesley) in 2022.

The final demonstrator capabilities include: Loading open-source firmware with customizations. Connecting to QGroundControl. Basic operations for manned flight on a simple airframe. Autonomous flight via ros2 and internal positioning system

QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board: common questions

What microcontroller does the QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board use?

The QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board is built around the STM32F427VIT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board?

The QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board measures 71.5 × 46 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board?

40 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board design files?

From the Heckus/QUT-OpenFCU repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the QUT AutoPilot SensorTest board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
