About the Abhay macropad PCB

Abhay macropad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by i-am-abhay, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 98.8 mm, with 41 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the XIAO-RP2040-DIP. By type, the board carries 10 LEDs, 10 capacitors, 9 switches, 9 diodes, 2 ICs and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the displays & leds and keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A macropad. It features 9 per key underlit keys, a .91" OLED display, and a rotary encoder; powered by the Seeed Studio XIAO RP2040.

This project is a custom 9-key macropad that I designed and built from scratch. It uses a Seeed Studio XIAO RP2040 and KMK firmware to run programmable macros, shortcuts, and media controls. It also has a 128×32 OLED display that shows animations and status information, RGB LEDs that provide visual feedback for each key press, and a rotary encoder for volume control.

Abhay macropad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Abhay macropad use?

The Abhay macropad is built around the XIAO-RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Abhay macropad PCB?

The Abhay macropad measures 80 × 98.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Abhay macropad?

41 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Abhay macropad design files?

From the i-am-abhay/abhay_macropad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Abhay macropad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with i-am-abhay. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Abhay macropad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
