About the Kamaji PCB

Kamaji is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by iley, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 63 components from 36 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA32U4-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 23 resistors, 11 capacitors, 8 connectors, 3 transistors, 3 jumpers and 3 switches.

A quiz game system

See kamaji.cc for assembly instructions and additional information.

firmware: main source code; demo: code samples; 3d: OpenSCAD models for the enclosure; pcb: schematic and printed circuit board layout in KiCAD format; misc`: the rest.

We use PlatformIO with Arduino framework. It should also be possible to compile the code with the official Arduino IDE.

For v1 and v3 custom fuses must be programmed before first flashing.

Kamaji: common questions

What microcontroller does the Kamaji use?

The Kamaji is built around the ATMEGA32U4-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Kamaji PCB?

The Kamaji measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Kamaji?

63 components, from 36 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Kamaji design files?

From the iley/kamaji repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Kamaji design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which iley chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Kamaji without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
