About the V3 PCB

V3 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by iley, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 45 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the PCF8574 and RC1602A. By type, the board carries 13 resistors, 10 connectors, 8 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 switches and 2 transistors.

See kamaji.cc for assembly instructions and additional information.

firmware: main source code; demo: code samples; 3d: OpenSCAD models for the enclosure; pcb: schematic and printed circuit board layout in KiCAD format; misc`: the rest.

We use PlatformIO with Arduino framework. It should also be possible to compile the code with the official Arduino IDE.

For v1 and v3 custom fuses must be programmed before first flashing.

V3: common questions

What microcontroller does the V3 use?

The V3 is built around the ATmega328P-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the V3 PCB?

The V3 measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the V3?

45 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the V3 design files?

From the iley/kamaji repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the V3 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which iley chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the V3 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
