About the Synthetizer PCB

Synthetizer is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ImMagni, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 406 × 90 mm, with 106 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Orpheus_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the PCM5100, LM4810 and PAM8403. By type, the board carries 41 diodes, 36 switches, 13 capacitors, 6 connectors, 3 ICs and 2 resistors.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

Synthesizer made of pcm5000 lm4810 pam8403

This project is a digital synthesizer keyboard capable of generating audio internally or outputting MIDI over USB. It features a screen-based user interface controlled through a rotary encoder and directional buttons. ## Features - Volume control from the screen using a rotary encoder - Selectable output modes: MIDI, Speakers, or Line output - Three-octave keyboard - Multiple waveform generation modes for audio - Settings saves on memory - On-screen menu system with directional navigation - LCD feedback for current settings ## BOM - 1× Orpheus_Pico (Raspberry Pi Pico) - 5× Capacitor 1 µF - 4×…

Synthetizer: common questions

What microcontroller does the Synthetizer use?

The Synthetizer is built around the Orpheus_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Synthetizer PCB?

The Synthetizer measures 406 × 90 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Synthetizer?

106 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Synthetizer design files?

From the ImMagni/Synthetizer repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Synthetizer design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which ImMagni chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Synthetizer without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
