About the Typepak advance PCB
Typepak advance is an open source PCB design by ImStuBTW, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 51.7 × 32 mm, with 25 components from 20 distinct parts.
Other key parts include the E73-2G4M08S1C, AP2112K-3.3 and TP4054. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 4 connectors, 3 ICs, 3 diodes, 3 capacitors and 2 transistors.
It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts, retro computing and keyboards designs in this gallery.
From the project
An nRF52840 breakout board enclosed in a Game Boy Advance cartridge.
The TypePak Advance is an update to my original TypePak design from 2023. The original idea for the concept was to put as many wireless keyboard components as possible inside of the shell of a Game Boy Advance cartridge. This allows you to more easily move the microcontroller between builds, but honestly it's primarily done for aesthetic reasons. Slapping a Game Boy cartridge port and cartridge onto the side of one's keyboard takes up a decent amount of space compared to a Pro Micro or a XIAO microcontroller, but it does look neat. If you're iterating through designs rapidly, it does manage…
