Here is the software execution flow: 1. Start - Initialize the system and check all sensors 2. Scan 8x8 hall sensor array - Continuously monitor the chess board for piece movements 3. Check if user moved a piece - If No: Return to step 2 (Keep monitoring the chessboard) - If Yes: Proceed to step 4 4. Validate if the move is legal - If No: Sound the buzzer and return to step 2 - If Yes: Proceed to step 5 5. Check for end game condition after user move - If Yes: Sound the buzzer and stop the game - If No: Proceed to step 6 6. Light up LEDs to indicate the user move - Provide visual feedback 7.…

Smart-Chessboard: common questions
What microcontroller does the Smart-Chessboard use?
The Smart-Chessboard is built around the RPi_GPIO, from the Raspberry Pi family.
How big is the Smart-Chessboard PCB?
The Smart-Chessboard measures 195 × 160 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Smart-Chessboard?
216 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Smart-Chessboard design files?
From the InputBlackBoxOutput/Smart-Chessboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Smart-Chessboard design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with InputBlackBoxOutput. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Smart-Chessboard without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
