About the IzeePad PCB

IzeePad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by IsaacM2020, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 62.1 × 62 mm, with 8 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 6 switches, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

My custom made macropad!

IzeePad is a custom 5-key macropad built as a fun exploration into the world of mechanical keyboards and custom electronics. I spend a lot of time at my desk, and I thought it would be a rewarding challenge to build a tool that makes my creative workflow just a little bit more personal.

Before this, I had never used Fusion 360 or KiCad, and diving head-first into this build has completely leveled up my skills in 3D modeling and electronics design.

IzeePad: common questions

What microcontroller does the IzeePad use?

The IzeePad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the IzeePad PCB?

The IzeePad measures 62.1 × 62 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the IzeePad?

8 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the IzeePad design files?

From the IsaacM2020/IzeePad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the IzeePad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with IsaacM2020. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the IzeePad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
