AstroWeather shows whether the coming nights are good for observing the sky. A serverless API combines astronomy (sunset, sunrise, sun and moon) with weather forecasts for a configured location and serves them as a compact text payload. A Wi-Fi host board fetches that payload every 6 hours and shows six observing nights on LED displays: its own and up to five chained display boards.

AstroWeather: common questions

What microcontroller does the AstroWeather use?

The AstroWeather is built around the STM32G070CBT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the AstroWeather PCB?

The AstroWeather measures 185 × 30 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.5584 mm thick.

How many components are on the AstroWeather?

113 components, from 60 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the AstroWeather design files?

From the jakubprzybytek/AstroWeather repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the AstroWeather design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jakubprzybytek. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the AstroWeather without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
