About the Esp butt PCB

Esp butt is an open source ESP32 PCB design by jsmnbom, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 65 × 65 mm, with 18 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 3 capacitors, 2 connectors, 2 switches and 1 IC.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A physical controller for intimate devices. No phone. No app. Just knobs, sliders, and hundreds of compatible toys.

Bluetooth intimate hardware (sex toys, etc) controller powered by buttplug.io.

This project is still in fairly early development, it has some quirks and rough edges but is generally functional. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in building your own or contributing to the project.

I welcome contributions with open arms. If you have ideas, suggestions for improvements, or want to help out with development, please don't hesitate to reach out or submit a pull request.

Esp butt: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp butt use?

The Esp butt is built around the XIAO-ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Esp butt PCB?

The Esp butt measures 65 × 65 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp butt?

18 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp butt design files?

From the jsmnbom/esp-butt repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp butt design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which jsmnbom chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Esp butt without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
