From the project
UPDI High Voltage programmer for AVR Dx/Ex and ATtiny series
This board is a UPDI programmer for AVR DA, DB, DD, DU, EA, and EB-series 7.5 V high-voltage (HV) programming and modern ATtiny-series (tinyAVR 0/1/2) 12 V HV programming. It injects HV pulses to restore programming capability when the UPDI pin has been accidentally or deliberately reconfigured, preventing normal UPDI programming with a standard UPDI tool.
The UPDI section of the circuit uses the design from UPDI Adapter for AE-CH9102F (Rev. 2), and it includes an automatic mode switch controlled by the RTS signal.

PCB updi unbricker: common questions
What microcontroller does the PCB updi unbricker use?
The PCB updi unbricker is built around the ATtiny402-SS, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the PCB updi unbricker?
The PCB updi unbricker measures 54 × 47.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the PCB updi unbricker?
65 components, from 42 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the PCB updi unbricker design files?
From the k-takata/PCB_updi_unbricker repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the PCB updi unbricker design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with k-takata. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the PCB updi unbricker without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
