About the CM5-SODIMM-Carrier PCB

CM5-SODIMM-Carrier is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by KaiPereira, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 6-layer board measuring 69.6 × 46.1 mm, with 96 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the 2x DF40C-100DS-0.4V, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the SN74LVC8T245 and RT9742GGJ5. By type, the board carries 61 resistors, 20 capacitors, 4 ICs, 4 transistors, 2 connectors and 2 diodes.

From the project

A fully open source CM5 carrier to turn your Pi into a Jetson in compact SO-DIMM format!

This SO-DIMM card essentially let's you turn a CM5 into a NVIDIA Jetson card, turing RK1, and other compatible SO-DIMM standards! It's going to be used for my future server cluster motherboard! ## Custom Features! - Jetson/Turing RK1/Radxa/etc compatible SO-DIMM connector - Support for SD Card mounting - GbE Ethernet - 1x PCIe Gen 3.0 - 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 support, 1x USB 2.0 - 1x HDMI 2.0 - 2x 4-Lane MIPI CSI - Misc buttons/LED's

CM5-SODIMM-Carrier: common questions

What microcontroller does the CM5-SODIMM-Carrier use?

The CM5-SODIMM-Carrier is built around the 2x DF40C-100DS-0.4V, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the CM5-SODIMM-Carrier PCB?

The CM5-SODIMM-Carrier measures 69.6 × 46.1 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CM5-SODIMM-Carrier?

96 components, from 18 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CM5-SODIMM-Carrier design files?

From the KaiPereira/CM5-SODIMM-Carrier repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CM5-SODIMM-Carrier design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which KaiPereira chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the CM5-SODIMM-Carrier without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
