About the PiFanIrHat PCB

PiFanIrHat is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by llegoff, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-1.2 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 65 × 56.5 mm, with 28 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny85, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the TSOP581xx and AT24C32. By type, the board carries 9 resistors, 5 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 switches and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

:warning: need raspbian buster, good version of gpio-fan overlay, come with kernel 4.19.

configuration: edit /boot/config.txt, add folowing line

dtoverlay=gpio-fan,gpiopin=18,temp=55000

on/off button is connected to gpio3 and GND

configuration: edit /boot/config.txt, add folowing line

dtoverlay=gpio-shutdown,gpiopin=3,activelow=1,gpio_pull=up

:warning: on raspberry pi 4, only shutdown work, with original bootloader. For power on, bootloader need to be update to ~~RC3.3~~ last version (see https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=246027)

PiFanIrHat: common questions

What microcontroller does the PiFanIrHat use?

The PiFanIrHat is built around the ATtiny85, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the PiFanIrHat PCB?

The PiFanIrHat measures 65 × 56.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PiFanIrHat?

28 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PiFanIrHat design files?

From the llegoff/PiFanIrHat repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PiFanIrHat design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-1.2 license, which llegoff chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PiFanIrHat without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
