About the 65ROL PCB

65ROL is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by LRGuess, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 333.8 × 133.2 mm, with 281 components from 14 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the SN74AHCT1G125DCKT. By type, the board carries 69 capacitors, 20 switches, 20 LEDs, 20 diodes, 1 IC and 1 module.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

A 65% Keyboard with a rotary encoder, OLED screen and LEDs

This repository contains all the resources necessary to hack and produce the 65% keyboard I designed by from scratch! The main features: 1. 65% layout 2. RBG LED under every key 3. OLED screen for fun 4. Rotary encoder for volume control 5. Pi Pico as main brain

Every feature and placement is to give the keyboard it's own sense of uniqueness and identity! I learnt many things while building this keyboard, here are the biggest ones: - The importance of decoupling capacitors - Why logic level converters are needed - The interactions between Vias and ground fills

65ROL: common questions

What microcontroller does the 65ROL use?

The 65ROL is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the 65ROL PCB?

The 65ROL measures 333.8 × 133.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 65ROL?

281 components, from 14 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 65ROL design files?

From the LRGuess/BigSaltyKeyboard-65ROL repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 65ROL design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with LRGuess. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the 65ROL without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
