About the Lukas-Hackpad PCB

Lukas-Hackpad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by lukas1122x, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 73.5 × 83.6 mm, with 11 components from 3 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 9 switches, 1 IC and 1 LED.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

This is my DIY hackpad

This is my custom macropad featuring 9 mechanical switches, a 0.91" OLED display, and an RP2040 microcontroller. I will use it for Fusion 360 and video editing, and the OLED display will show the current mode so I can easily see whether I’m in Fusion 360 mode or Video Editing mode.

Lukas-Hackpad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Lukas-Hackpad use?

The Lukas-Hackpad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Lukas-Hackpad PCB?

The Lukas-Hackpad measures 73.5 × 83.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Lukas-Hackpad?

11 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Lukas-Hackpad design files?

From the lukas1122x/Lukas-Hackpad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Lukas-Hackpad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with lukas1122x. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Lukas-Hackpad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
