About the V0 4-Scale Module
V0 4-Scale Module is an open source ESP32 PCB design by MacNite, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 60 × 90 mm, with 26 components from 21 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the 113991254, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 17 connectors, 2 test points, 1 IC and 1 switch.
It belongs with the iot & wireless, sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.
From the project
Open-source ESP32-C6 beehive monitoring hub for scales and sensors. Collects weight, climate, sound, vibration and bee traffic from up to 16 hives, with BLE, OTA, FastAPI/PostgreSQL backend, dashboards, MQTT and tested KiCad hardware.
Current state (as of 9 July 2026): all published PCBs are tested and working.
- Use the XIAO ESP32-C6 on the Scale Module (V0.4) as your main HiveHub controller, populated with the recommended module set: NAU7802 (2 scales), MAX17048 battery gauge, TPS63020 buck-boost, TP4056 USB-C charger, DS3231 RTC, micro-SD module and SHT40. It also collects data from up to 16 BLE in-hive sensors. - Optional, for 3+ scales: add the NAU7802 breakout PCB (v0.2) without an MCU — its TCA9548A I2C multiplexer carries up to 8× NAU7802 for up to 16 wired scales in total. When the breakout/mux is used, install…

V0 4-Scale Module: common questions
What microcontroller does the V0 4-Scale Module use?
The V0 4-Scale Module is built around the 113991254, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the V0 4-Scale Module?
The V0 4-Scale Module measures 60 × 90 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the V0 4-Scale Module?
26 components, from 21 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the V0 4-Scale Module design files?
From the MacNite/HiveHub repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the V0 4-Scale Module design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which MacNite chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the V0 4-Scale Module without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
